Part III — The Asset Thesis

Value Redeployed.

Our work is not simply the social benefit of helping veterans recover.

It is an asset argument. A rally cry.

Military service develops extraordinary human capability.

Discipline, resilience, judgment, responsibility, teamwork, adaptability, leadership, and the ability to operate under pressure.

The country has already invested enormously in developing that capacity. And the veteran has paid enormously to acquire it.

When a veteran becomes trapped in survival—through addiction, trauma, incarceration, homelessness, isolation, loss of identity, or simply a failed transition—that capability hasn't been lost.

It has become unavailable.

Coming Home changes that.

Stability, Readiness, Capability, Contribution and Belonging don't merely make the veteran “better.” They create the conditions in which that human asset becomes deployable again.

Redeployment is crucial.

We are not saying veterans should return to being who they were in the military. We are saying the value developed through service can find new expression in civilian life.

  • As parents.
  • Partners.
  • Employees.
  • Entrepreneurs.
  • Mentors.
  • Neighbors.
  • Volunteers.
  • Creators.
  • Community members.
  • As Citizens.
  • As Leaders.

So the investment proposition isn't simply, help veterans because they deserve our help - Of course they do.

No, the proposition is this:

Invest in veterans because we have an extraordinary reserve of human capability that should not be left stranded.

When one veteran Comes Home, the return isn't contained within that individual.

  • Their children experience a different parent.
  • Employers regain capability.
  • Communities gain leadership and service.
  • Relationships change.
  • Other veterans get reached.
  • Future generations are affected.

That's why: When veterans come home, everyone benefits.

It isn't a sentimental ending.

It is the economic, civic, familial and human thesis.

There is extraordinary value sitting here. Our collective opportunity is to put it back to work.

That is Value Redeployed.
